Overbury Street Market 12th July 2014
July has come around again we are busy preparing for our major event of their Summer calendar. The 36th annual Street Market, which attracts visitors from all around, will be held in the beautiful Bredon Hill village on Saturday 12th July.
The market takes place between 10am and 12noon against a picturesque backdrop of stone cottages, St Faith’s Church (dating back to Norman times) and the 18th century Overbury Court.
During a hectic two hours, there will be opportunities to pick up unusually high quality bargains as well as a range of Overbury Farm Lamb and home produced cakes and goodies from Anne's Pantry. Get there early to buy the best lemon drizzle or marmalade!
Stalls this year will include the ever popular ‘Going for a Song’ overflowing with paraphernalia of all descriptions. There's also the book stall, which has a fresh supply of secondhand books. Other stalls will have gifts, cards and hand-made jewellery, plants, accessories, bags, toys & games, the list goes on & on. Our talented local artists will be displaying their work, and Conderton potter Toff Milway will encourage you to ‘throw a wobbly’ (pot) on his wheel.
Whitcombe Garden (a member of the National Gardens Scheme) is open & our school & nursery will be in it with lots of fun games & things for children. There are magnificent raffle prizes to be won, a good bottle stall and a range of refreshments on sale in another Berkeley House garden. Mouth-watering bacon butties can be enjoyed while you wait for the market to open.
Car parking and entry are both free.
If very wet, the market will take place in the Village Hall. Money raised from the event will go to local good causes - a list of last years donations is available.
