Whitcombe Garden
Conderton Manor GardenConderton Manor was built in the 1680s, but the garden today dates from the 1960s, when it was extended to it's present seven acres. The swimming pool and tennis court were built at this time and the yew hedges and pleached limes planted. The garden was landscaped to maximise the glorious views towards the Cotswold and down the Vale of Gloucester. The Old Kitchen Garden has been redesigned since 1990 and now has huge arches covered in roses, vitis, clematis; double rose borders with perennials and buddleias to fill the 'roses pause' and attract the butterflies. The wall has recently been planted with numerous climbing roses. Over the past 30 years many unusual trees have been planted in the garden and adjoining orchard - including varieties of acer, sorbus and betula in particular. Also different quercus and tilia and fagus varieties. 7-acre garden with magnificent views of the Cotswolds. Flowering cherries and bulbs in spring; many unusual trees and shrubs giving yr-round interest. Formal terrace with clipped box parterre; huge rose and clematis arches underplanted with perennials; mixed borders of roses and herbaceous plants in former kitchen garden; bog bank and quarry garden Openings |
